Seafood buffet dinner in Bangkok is very popular, especially when enjoying fresh, juicy seafood with a bunch of good friends. For me, I have a totally different perspective about buffet dinner. Ever since I have learnt that my friends here in Bangkok have a tendency to be late to any gatherings, I fall in love with buffet dinner. If it’s a lavish seafood buffet dinner, I will be merrier.
Buffet dinner, after my manipulation, has become a cure for my short temper while waiting hours for my friends at the dining table. No matter how late they are going to show up, I can still be very happy with an extensive selection of scrumptious food at a buffet dinner. A delicious seafood buffet dinner is my lifesaver, no more time will be wasted. Obviously, no more losing temper.
Among all the buffet choices in Bangkok, I have tried the Friday seafood buffet dinner at Up & Above Restaurant and Bar at The Okura Prestige Bangkok.
Convenience
It’s always a wise choice to pick a hotel which is conveniently connected with a sky-bridge of a BTS station. It literally excludes Friday’s traffic jam as an excuse for not allowing yourself to enjoy an enticing seafood buffet dinner in the city centre on a Friday. The Okura Prestige Bangkok is easily accessible from Ploenchit BTS station.
Food selection
The food selection at this buffet dinner is satisfactory. We were able to savour various kinds of seafood, scrumptious Japanese cuisine, dessert including housemade ice-cream. What has especially impressed us?
Seafood
Seafood lovers, honestly, the Friday & Saturday seafood buffet dinner at Up & Above Restaurant and Bar will put you in awe! Fresh oysters, river prawns, and Alaska king crabs are all appealingly arrayed. Choices are in the hands of diners whether to eat the seafood on ice or grilled seafood. We highly recommended the grilled oysters with wasabi mayonnaise. The chef definitely knows how to grill oysters, leaving each bite of oyster juicy and delicious. On the day of our visit, the grilled prawns were not fresh enough. So my focus was all on the oysters.
Housemade pasta
The housemade pasta is the star in this buffet. Freshly-made pasta is made to order with choices for different sauces including tomato sauce, pesto and white cream sauce.
Foie gras
Another made-to-order delicacy is pan-seared foie gras. Of course, it’s a must! The foie gras is a thick cut with satisfying fatty texture.
Thai cuisine
Many diners ignore Thai cuisine in an international buffet, but I would recommend you to really try it here!
Dessert
The dessert counter is tempting. We enjoyed an array of international sweets and Thai dessert. They are delicately made, beautifully arrayed and alluringly delicious.
