The Sukhothai Bangkok is timeless. No matter how fast the world is evolving and how many exquisite hotels are opening in Bangkok, The Sukhothai Bangkok still remains elegant and classic. The Sunday brunch at Colonnade inherits this precious quality. Every time we return to this Sunday brunch, we are surprised by better and wider selections of quality cuisine! There is never a nano-metre drop in quality and satisfaction. This is where we are assured of a chillaxing Sunday with the best food and professional service. This time, Colonnade’s Sunday brunch put us in awe with the beautiful jazz music by American Jazz Diva Coco Rouzier. This Sunday brunch is ranked top-notch of the top-notch by us, and will remain its irreplaceable place in our hearts!
Divine Buffet Line at Sunday brunch at The Sukhothai Bangkok
Splendid seafood choices definitely melted my heart the moment I was at the doorstep of Colonnade! The eye-catching ice sculpture glittered with Alaskan King Crabs, Maine Lobsters, Sicilian Brown Crabs, Razor Clams, Rock Lobster, Black Mussels, Europeans oysters freshly shucked to order, and many more! Many of you may ask, ‘how’s the seafood and oysters?’ As a pro buffet gourmet, I’ll let you judge. ‘I enjoyed 27 pieces of oysters with three glasses of bubbles!’
This time, the expanded Japanese section made me drool with excitement. Tempting Japanese delicacy appetizers, and a Sushi and Sashimi counter with Engawa, Foie Gras, Hamachi, Hotate, Unagi, Tamago, Katsue, Suzuki, Hogigai, Maguro, Ikura, etc. were all perfectly arrayed! A Chef was preparing delicious sushi throughout the brunch. I would recommend you to get a platter of assorted of sashimi and sushi and eat it with a glass of bubbles. A difficult question will cross your mind right away – where in the Land of Smiles could you find another Sunday brunch that can beat this one?
The Pate and Terrines section surprised me with a completely mouthwatering selection of Foie Gras Pate, Black Truffles, Port Jelly, Terrine whole Duck Foie Gras and Duck Rillettes, served with Brioche Bread and Pickles. The made-to-order Pan-Fried Foie Gras successfully erased my consciousness about cholesterol! A whole piece of Foie gras was served to me. It melted in my mouth with its creaminess and aroma that drove me to savouring three pieces of Foie gras in a roll.
Special attention has been put into the carving section to win the hearts of meat lovers! A giant chunk of Roasted Wagyu Prime Rib with Yorkshire Puddings is highly recommended. The effortless cut and melt-in-your-mouth feel further confirmed my recognition of the legendary Sunday brunch in town! It’s definitely not easy to find a brunch that serves 5-star steak such generously. For a meat lover like me, one big piece was not enough!
The selection of cheese and bread was amazing. 25 to 30 Varieties of seasonal farmhouse cheeses were arrayed. I highly recommend you the grilled raclette cheese served with boiled potatoes and pickles! Stand to wait for your grilled raclette cheese, let the aroma of the melting raclette cheese penetrate your craving nerves! It’s really irresistible!
You should never ever skip the signature soups. You will regret if you do so! The a la minute Lobster Bisque Flambé with Pernod and Lobster Butter Truffle and Wild Mushroom Cream Soup, Fresh Sliced Black Truffle left me an unforgettable taste. The lobster bisque is surely one of the very best in town! It is aromatic, full of lobster flavour with a hint of truffle! Concretely, it nails the definition of being a top-notch brunch in town.
Dessert is another divine station I highly recommend. Choices for desserts were amazing! Must-try desserts include Very Chocolate Eclairs, Crème Brûlée, The Sukhothai Chocolate Truffles, A la Minute Tiramisu, Crepes Suzette Ice creams and Sorbets (5 kinds) Sticky Rice with Mango. No matter how full you are, by the time you see those attractive little pieces of desserts in front of you, your appetite for sweets instantly returns!
