The talented bartenders at The Okura Prestige Bangkok’s Up & Above Bar are once again serving up a selection of sophisticated cocktails and mocktails inspired by Japan’s famous Sakura cherry trees, which are in full bloom during April, May, and June. Old favourites include the Sakura Royale, a classic floral Champagne cocktail, and the Sakura Martini made with artisanal Junamai Sake, Luxardo cherry liqueur, and Caorunn Gin, which is infused with botanicals from the Scottish Highlands for a delightful bloomy twist.
New to the menu this year is the Sakura 75, a sublime mix of Pol Roger Champagne, Beefeater Gin, Sakura syrup, and lemon juice, and the divine Sakura Oriental Tonic, Up & Above’s take on the classic Gin & Tonic. It blends Suntory’s Roku Gin distilled with Sakura blossoms with other seasonal Japanese botanicals, Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic, rose water, cardamom, and cinnamon.
Equally delicious are three mocktails based on invigorating cherry flavours; the Simply Sakura mixes cherry purée with Yuzu juice and soda water for a bubbly taste sensation, while The Blossoms combines cherry purée, black pepper infused syrup, cream and lime juice for an intriguing texture and a heady flavour. Also delightful is the Sakura Cloud, a refreshing mix of pineapple and Yuzu juice with cherry blossom syrup and Sakura foam.
Sakura Blossom Cocktails are available daily from 1 April – 30 June 2018, 7 a.m. – 1 a.m., at Up & Above Bar. Prices start at Baht 350++ for cocktails and Baht 250++ for mocktails.
