Lunchtime is when I can temporarily leave my work desk and be myself on a working day. I have exactly one hour. I would not want to pick a place too far to waste any more minutes for commuting to and from the restaurant. I like to choose a restaurant where I could enjoy some delicious beverage and food. A value-added element is the unique decor of the restaurant that worths lots of Instagram moments. Social media photography is another way to release stress. It can instantly boost happiness within seconds. At least it works for me.
Today I chose Buddha & Pals at Kanvela House.
Buddha & Pals is not far from my office. It is a 5-minute walk from my office. Co-located with the check-in lobby of Kanvela House, Buddha & Pals is rustic in decor. The interior designer took down all the walls and intentionally left the pillars and the original shabby floor tiles inside the building, creating an ambience of the old days – a kind of comforting time of our childhood.
I like this ambience. I can have my lunchtime well spent and a comfortable mind.
Uniqueness is the word I would describe this cafe in the historic Nang Loeng Market area. While every detail of its decoration suggests the old times of Thailand, the food and drinks are, on the other hand, suggests culinary modernization.
I ordered the signature drink – Kanvela 59. At first, I was rather reluctant to order this drink as it contains coffee, lemon and honey. How would it taste? I was persuaded by the barista who obviously noticed my hesitation. “We shake it. You can taste the difference!” The first three words – we shake it – won my trust. How would a coffee made in a cocktail shaker taste like?
Magnificent! My coffee was very well shaken. It tasted smooth and was mildly sweetened. The aroma of lemon was obvious but well nicely with the taste of coffee.
At Buddha & Pals, diners can order simple meals from pan-seared sea bass, pasta to dessert. Trust me, all are yummy!
Satisfied! After spending 40 minutes at Buddha & Pals, I felt recharged and refreshed, totally ready to fight the remaining day at my workplace.
