Di Cafe by Monomer is found inside Petchburi Soi 16, an area very close to Ratchathewi BTS Station. As this area is not too far away from Siam and MBK Shopping Mall, it has been developed into a very interesting, touristy place populated with two hotels, an interesting hostel, a famous street food area with tempting local delicacies and a nightlife area right opposite Asia Hotel with cafes, beer places and live music. It is a lively conglomerate of locals and tourists.
Because of the choices for food, I come to Ratchathewi very often. Ranging from delicious street food to very high-end French cuisine, I can always find satisfaction for my taste buds quite easily, except when I am indecisive as there are just too many choices. Out of total astonishment, when I was trying to find a place to hide from the rain, I found Di Cafe by Monomer – a cozy, comfy cafe serving nice coffee and drinks, and simple meals such as salad, breakfast, and sandwiches.
The decor of Di Cafe by Monomer is welcoming. Vintage wooden tables; warm yellow light bulbs of different shapes; and seductive aroma of coffee, all open big arms to readily welcome its guests.
I especially like to come in the morning when it is quieter and the surrounding area is less busy. There is an outdoor area for smoking and enjoying fresh air. It is quite nice to sit outdoor during winter time of Bangkok (November to January).
The design of outdoor seating is quite interesting. Using old sewing machines to make the long table impresses a taste of vintage feel to the coffee shop! To me, it is the best spot for photo-taking.
The coffee here is quite nice – very aromatic and smooth. I especially like their hot latte and hot matcha latte. Sometimes if I am hungry, I will pair my cup of coffee with their homemade bakery.
Indoor seating is also very comfortable. I especially like the table at the far end of the cafe!
If you have a chance to go to Ratchathewi, drop by Di Cafe by Monomer. You may find your own satisfaction and enjoyment in this little, homey coffee shop.
