Long Table, as its name suggested, a big rectangular bar and restaurant. Located on the 25th floor of Column Building inside Sukhumvit Soi 16. Long Table is carefully zoned into 2 areas – dining area and bar area. The dining area is featured with a 2.5-metre long table, which is why they name the restaurant ‘Long Table’. The bar area is on an open-air balcony with a pool. This zone allows you to have a bird’s eyes view of Asok area.
Managed by the same team of the Bed Supperclub, the Long Table offers similar kind of dining decor – dining on bed. Instead of using the same theme of white, red and white are the prominent colours used in the decor. The neon red decorates the whole place with a taste of excitement.
I visited the Long Table during the happy hours – 5pm – 7: 30pm when promotion of buy one get one free from selected drinks and sundowner dinner menu (399 Baht + for 3 dishes) are available. Apart from their promotion during happy hours, they have an extensive menu of both Thai and western cuisines. Pricing for their dishes are medium high but the quality is just OK, at least not all the dishes I ordered have impressed me to go for a second dining experience. However, having a drink with friends during happy hours while enjoying the magnificent view of Sukhumvit by the pool will be the reason I will return.
The have a long list of wine with the cheapest priced at around 1,200 baht. For the wine lovers, you may love to enjoy a bottle of wine at the Long Table.
I picked 3 dishes from the Sundowner menu and ordered a gin tonic for myself and a sparkling wine for my hunnie. I especially ordered a tenderloin for us as well. I always think if a restaurant can provide really delicious juicy steak to their diners, their other dishes will not be disappointing. For the Sundowner dishes, they were quite good, I especially liked the the baked oysters. The oysters were fresh and the cheesy sauce was creamy and melt perfectly to match with the oysters. However, I didn’t like the chicken wing stuffed with minced pork. It was not oily but I just couldn’t pick up a special taste from it. It’s a bit ordinary.
As for the medium-cooked tenderloin, it was served with a very tempting way – a big plate full of side dish of salad and french fries. It was quite juicy but wasn’t tender enough to melt in your mouth. The steak was done according to my order – medium done. It’s not over-cooked. Overall speaking, it’s palatable. I prefer to have more sauce with the tenderloin so that it could be more succulent. However, the grilled mushroom placed under the steak was very good – fresh and full of pleasant aroma. It matched perfectly with the steak.
Long Table is a good place for gathering with friends. The atmosphere stimulates relaxing happy chat with your friends. If you are to take your overseas friends for dinner with a view and reasonably-priced food, Long Table is not a bad choice.
