Sala Rattanakosin – Dining with a Charming view of Chaopraya River

Looking out, I was astonished by the beauty of the statuesque pagoda of Wat Arun on the bank of Chao Phraya River. Special charm radiated out from this historic pagoda enveloped me with a sense of delight. When gentle breeze kissed my face, I couldn’t help but totally fell into the intoxicating sight of this charming scenery. It was the feeling when I sat at the dining table by the river at Sala Rattanakosin.

The endearing outdoor view is a perfect setting for romantic dates in particular. It is one of the reasons why getting a table at Sala Rattanakosin may not be easy, especially during weekends. Its contemporary interior decoration gives patrons a chic and pleasant dining ambience.

The Executive Chef of Sala Rattanakosin, Mr. Tony Wrigley, brings to his locals and visitors the local flavours with his interpretations and refinement in each dish of the menu.

After taking my order, chips were served to my table with local red namprik, which was not spicy but did give extra flavour to the snacks before my meal.

Fried local kale with pork belly: This simple dish was delicious, especially the pork belly which was evenly layered with fat and pork was tasty.

Char-grilled fish of the day with Thai seafood sauce & tamarind sauce: Although the fish was quite small, it was fresh. With the mild scent of the banana leaf penetrated to the fish, it was aromatic.

Char-grilled marinated pork collar served with crispy local vegetables, sticky rice and smoked chili dressing: I like this dish very much! The char-grilled pork was very tender. Paired with the tamarind sauce, it was very appetizing.

Sliced chicken breast poached in green coconut curry with pea eggplants, kaffir lime and sweet basil: This dish is best to eat with Jasmine rice! The chicken was not overcooked but at the same time absorbed the flavour of green curry. Very nice.

Wild peppery rocket salad with roasted beets, feta cheese, sweet oranges, pistachios and roasted onion dressing: A very refreshing dish. The dressing did not steal away the original flavour of each ingredient.

Lychee Mojito: Sala Rattanakosin is also famous for their cocktails. If you are indecisive at what to choose, their friendly servers will recommend you their popular and signature cocktails. My Lychee Mojito was a very nice match to my meal.

If you go to Sala Rattanakosin during sunset, you will be amazed at the scenery of of Wat Arun. It is really the best time to enjoy a few drinks with your loved ones and friends in a chillaxing way.

One thing to remind you, as parking spaces are super limited, you may find it easier to park your car at Wat Po, which is located very close to the Sala Rattanakosin, within about 5-minute walk.

We recommend Sala Rattanakosin to you all.
