Moutain Creek Golf Couse

Mountain Creek Golf Course is a 27-hole golf course located past the Khao Yai National Park. It is Thailand’s only golf course that is designed by the former world No. 1 golfer and champions of five majors, Seve Ballesteros. Mountain Creek Golf Course is spread out over three nine-hole loops, each of which is named after their natural landscapes – highlands, creek and valley. Seve Ballesteros designed the Creek and Valley Courses to be the most interesting loops, while the Highlands Course is less challenging.

Mountain Creek Golf Course demands a combination of power, accuracy, and concentration.  Hazards are strategically positioned throughout the golf course to lure in shots from every angle. Due to its dense jungle frames, you are forced to keep the golf ball down the centre; else you will face a costly penalty.  Holes play to various distances from a short 330-yard par-4 to a monstrous 550-yard par-5. As a result, expect to use every club in your bag. The greens are also challenging. Many of which are severely undulated. If you hit to the wrong side of the hole, a three-putt is almost guaranteed.

I find it quite weird that all rest stations were closed when I played golf there in October. I was explained that they are only opened during peak seasons. What does it mean to golfers? It means you will need to buy sufficient bottles of water and snacks right before you start. There is a little corner selling beverages and snacks between the pro shop and the way heading to the waiting area for tee-off.

Changing room and lockers area are spacious! I would not say it is decorated in a high-end, elegant way, but it is clean and spacious with bathroom amenities are provided.

Mountain Creek Golf Resort & Residence – Accommodation

There are three types of villas for guests to choose from, namely Winter Escape Deluxe Villa, Summer Pool Villa and Spring Breeze Family Poll Villa. This time we picked the Winter Escape Deluxe Villa. This villa is spacious with a jacuzzi, a shower, a comfortable king-sized bed and a DVD player. As the villa is located at a certain distance away from the restaurant, wherever you go, you will need to call for a concierge to pick you up by a golf cart. The waiting time really depends, but normally a golf cart can reach you within 5-10 minutes.

The restaurant gives you a panorama view of the golf course. I especially like enjoying my breakfast on the balcony, sipping my hot latte and watching golfers in action swinging their golf clubs! That’s my definition of a genuine weekend getaway!

Since there aren’t any restaurant nearby, if you prefer to dine outside the resort, you will need to drive at least 20-30 km to reach a decent restaurant. The Rock is equipped with a nice selection of wine, delicious Thai cuisine and friendly service.
